Koya is a Michelin-star restaurant in Tampa, Florida. It has an intimate eight-seat counter, where a multi-course contemporary tasting menu shares a singular interpretation of Japanese cuisine. The dishes are often unexpected, yet always thoughtful. Spectacular seafood is a given; staple luxuries like bluefin tuna and uni are flown in weekly from the Toyosu Market.
The dining experience at Koya is truly special. The service is attentive and knowledgeable, and the food is simply outstanding. The menu changes seasonally, so you’re always in for a treat. We had the opportunity to dine at Koya recently, and were blown away by the quality of the food and the overall experience.
The meal started with a series of small plates, each more delicious than the last. We both particularly enjoyed the nigiri tastings and Sawagani fried crab. For the main course, we had A5 BMS 12 Miyazaki Wagyu (which was my favorite), King Salmon Chawanmushi, and the Hokkaido scallop. All 3 dishes were cooked perfectly and were incredibly flavorful.
For dessert, we had the Yuzu Monaka and it was the perfect way to end the meal.
Overall, our experience at Koya was absolutely unforgettable. The food was incredible, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was intimate and inviting. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a truly special dining experience.
