Investing in Art

Updated: Jan 29

Leslie Curran, owner of ARTicles Art Gallery, hosted our VIP Wine, Women & Wealth "Art & Wine," event last night in her creative upbeat gallery, located on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street N. Blvd., in St. Petersburg.

She shared her twenty years experience in running her own art gallery, about what to consider when purchasing art, doing research on the artists and the investment opportunity that art represents in expanding your portfolio.

We then heard from Alicia Weaver, President of Prestige Estate Services, and only one of 108 appraisers nationwide certified to perform personal property appraisals by the International Society of Appraisers. Alicia enlightened our women attendees about the value of investing in art, wine, jewelry, and how important it is to get these collectibles appraised to protect your assets.

Women had the opportunity to explore beautiful art in the gallery, and ask Leslie and Alicia questions to learn more, all while tasting delicious wine from Prisoner Wine.

According to Forbes, the art market is independent of the stock market and its resell value, even when the economy is performing poorly, art tends to remain high.

Lauren, representing Prisoner Wine, conducted a wine tasting with several different varietals of Prisoner, while women were able to learn about their Rose, Pinot Noir and their Red Blend. She also shared how several of the winemakers with Prisoner are women winemakers.

It was an empowering evening with powerhouse women learning, laughing, and connecting!
